Studio Lighting Class
(for portraiture photography)

Overview

A 3-session class to introduce photographers to studio lighting techniques for portraiture photography.

Taking a practical-based approach, students will learn how to set up lighting for portraiture photography in a studio environment.

This class focuses in two key areas:

  1. lighting concepts so you know how to modify an existing setup to achieve your own creative ideas, troubleshoot lighting problems, and create your own setups that others will be wanting to follow,
  2. posing, directing and communication techniques that help to make your model look as good as possible


Fees:

2500RMB per participant

Fees not inclusive of model fees. Students need not pay additional fees for models and you are encouraged to bring your friends along for practice during lesson TWO or THREE.
We will be using dummy models or asking fellow classmates to pose for lighting lessons.

  6. Knowing what Flatters your model
  7. Remedying Facial Problems, from double chins to large ears

  1. Portraits in Classical Lighting
  2. Directing and Posing models
  3. Model Shoot: Facial analysis, planning and execution of model shoot
  4. Review and critique of model shoot

 

 

 

 

Course Requirements

Participants must bring their own camera (DSLR or compact with manual exposure modes). A tripod and laptop is highly recommended for this workshop.
