Who is Emily Jonas:
Emily Jonas is a native Chinese, but has lived overseas for over 10 years. She is a stay-at-home-mom and professional photographer. She traveled and lived in a few different countries after she turned 16, and tried to make a career out of different industries. She always thought her life is going to be about fashion, until she realized her favorite part about fashion was the photographs. She first got her hands on an SLR in early 2009, but in very short time, she started taking professional photographs that touched people’s heart. Emily started her professional photography career as a portrait photographer in Las Vegas, U.S. This year her whole family has moved to Beijing to live. Emily often participates in various trade conferences and shows to keep herself recharged and updated to the most current trends of the industry.

How to capture souls with your camera, and become a better photographer.

If you love photography, but are stuck trying to learn photography, you will love this class. Maybe you are a full time mom like our lecturer Emily, maybe you are a busy working employee, or maybe you have just started taking photography seriously. No matter who you are, you will gain insight on how to take more professional photos faster. Emily became a popular photographer in a very short period, and she has decided to share what has worked for her in exploring the photography world; she knows that everyone has potential waiting to be discovered. 10:45 – Exposure for dummies
11:00 – The secret of framing a shot – composition case studies, “crop it way” composition in editing
12:00 – Lunch Break
1:00 – Let there be light – natural lights and how to deal with them
1:30 – How to capture the soul of your objec
1:45 – Journalistic or pose
2:00 – How to capture the soul of your person
How to shoot children and family, how to shoot expecting mothers, how to shoot lovers and how to shoot a group of people
2:30 – Real time shooting exercise, child, maternity, child and mom.
3:30 – Editing – a few tricks from Lightroom and photoshop that’s going to make your photographs shine
4:00 – Practice with editing the photographs you took during the shooting exercise, one on one critiquing
5:00 – photograph sharing

Suggestions:

If you still have no idea how to operate your SLR, please spend a night or two to read your SLR manual, and try every button that is on your camera.  It’s very important to know how to use your tool.  If you find it too dry to continue, why not join us at BCP’s Basic Digital photography Class prior to this workshop.
Bring your camera, laptop (preferably with Photoshop and Lightroom installed) and notebook to take notes.
Don’t forget to recharge your battery and clear out your memory card. Please bring your card reader or cord for easy photo transfers.
